Defining the Path
Up to now, travel programs have operated the same way. Do what you can to prevent information about "premier" options from reaching our families or market against the merits of "premier" programs in the hopes that "its" players will not choose to leave. Setting aside how you feel about the practice or intent of the travel programs to these efforts, the fact remains it largely has not worked well. Players who have ability or just as important, the interest, for higher level soccer have still gone looking for more. in the absence of information and guidance from the travel programs families are left largely on their own to educate themselves about the opportunities that exist for their children. The environment created from such an approach has created a number of less than ideal outcomes. The most concerning is the constant germination of new "pay to play" programs claiming to offer the "premier" experience. The more of these programs that exist the more quality players are lost from travel programs and the Buffalo Western New York Junior Soccer League.
Empire is suggesting that support from the travel programs identifying it as the one true path to higher level soccer and opportunities will help reduce the success other programs claiming to provide the "premier" experience will have. Empire believes it has earned the right to represent the Western New York community through its strong moral and ethical principles, adherence to a simple philosophy of player first, and its affiliations with organizations like US Soccer and the New England Revolution.
By defining the path for aspiring young soccer players, we provide families with the information they need to make good decisions for their children. Demonstrating through action that your programs puts the best interests of the players you serve first, you will increase family loyalty and trust. Loyal members are less likely to look elsewhere.
